Last week, from November 6 to 9, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) hosted the much-anticipated KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2023 in Chicago, USA. Over these three days, more than 300 companies and thousands of attendees converged at McCormick Place, the KubeCon conference center, igniting a tech storm in Chicago as the year winds down.
Greptime, as a vibrant startup in the cloud-native open-source arena, aimed to connect with like-minded professionals all around the world. Bringing our latest technology and ideas straight to Chicago, our founding team showcased our innovative tech and vision, drawing the attention of many developers and industry practitioners to the time-series database field, a niche yet challenging area.
What is KubeCon โ
KubeCon, organized by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) under the Linux Foundation, is one of the most important gatherings in the cloud-native tech field centered around the Kubernetes ecosystem. It attracts developers, IT professionals, and cloud computing enthusiasts from around the globe.
The inaugural KubeCon was held in 2015 by KubeAcademy in San Francisco and has been an annual event since then. It offers a platform to showcase, learn, and discuss Kubernetes and related cloud-native application technologies.
Covering everything from infrastructure construction to application deployment, and from the latest open-source projects to practical enterprise solutions, KubeCon encompasses all aspects of the cloud-native ecosystem. The event is a melting pot of startups, industry leaders, developers, decision-makers, and all those passionate about cloud-native technology, looking to push the boundaries and address real-world challenges of cloud-native tech.
Solutions Showcase Tour โ
Over two and a half days, Greptime, along with more than 280 other sponsors and cloud-native projects, set up booths in the Solutions Showcase area, sharing the latest in tech solutions. When we officially started setting up our booth on November 6, the grandeur of the Solutions Showcase area was breathtaking, symbolizing the endless possibilities in the tech world. From the dynamic and delicate booths of the Diamond Sponsors to the neatly arrayed monitors in the open-source project display area, there was always an intriguing project or person to engage with. Despite being a Startup Sponsor with just a modest booth, our presence marked a significant step forward for Greptime.
Founded just eighteen months ago and with GreptimeDB open-sourced for less than a year, we were absolutely young compared to most players in the conference. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the interest shown by independent developers, students, and professionals from various fields. Some were intrigued by our unique name "grep time," others discovered us through media searches, and many were attracted by our beautifully designed SWAG.
At the exhibition, we had enriching conversations with industry professionals focused on time-series data storage and analysis, individual developers intrigued by our Rust-based open-source database GreptimeDB, and a diverse group of media representatives and investors. These dialogues not only allowed us to highlight our technical prowess but also offered us priceless insights into the latest in technology, product development, and market strategies.
