As 2023 comes to a close, it's time for harvest and recap. Greptime wraps up its first annual summary!

This year has been a whirlwind of activity for us. We've published a total of 132 articles, hosted 5 Meetups, and participated in 10 major events. Product development has been bustling with 5 major iterations and the launch of 2 beta products (GreptimeCloud and GreptimeAI).

In this finite year, we've continuously expanded our horizons and embraced infinite possibilities.

2023 Keywords: #Coding #Blogging โ€‹

As we step into the first year of Greptime, our earnest desire is for everyone to know about a data infrastructure vendor named Greptime. They offer an open-source time-series database called GreptimeDB and two products in tech preview: GreptimeAI and GreptimeCloud. This year has been one of diligent efforts for our team, with our marketing team making a splash and our tech team deeply engrossed in their work.

This year, based on GreptimeDB, we launched the tech preview version of GreptimeCloud and GreptimeAI. GreptimeDB saw five major iterations this year:

  • GreptimeDB v0.1: Released on March 8, focused on the standalone version.

  • GreptimeDB v0.2: Released on April 19, enhanced standalone features and initiated distributed version.

  • GreptimeDB v0.3: Released on June 7, was the first distributed version with improved query performance and stability.

  • GreptimeDB v0.4: Released on October 10, enhanced writing and querying capabilities, with query performance improving by 5-20 times.

  • GreptimeDB v0.5: Released on December 26, introduced Remote WAL and Metrics Engine and laid the groundwork for a robust distributed system.

GreptimeCloud's tech preview was launched on June 30

GreptimeCloud: The serverless version of GreptimeDB's fully managed service went live, compatible with Prometheus rules.

GreptimeAI: An observability platform for large language model applications based on GreptimeDB, supporting data points and analysis for Langchain and the OpenAI SDK.

Reflecting on the entire year of 2023, our team has maintained remarkable consistency, publishing an article on average every 5 working days. We extend our heartfelt thanks to technical colleagues for their dedication and hard work in creating valuable content alongside their coding responsibilities.

This year at Greptime, Yang Li stood out as our most prolific author, significantly enhancing our technical repository. Leihuang deserves a round of applause as our content expert, his articles have garnered widespread acclaim. Jiachun Feng has been our steady presence, reliably delivering biweekly reports with consistent quality. Xtang, our esteemed tutorial expert, has crafted a wealth of guides, providing GreptimeDB users with valuable resources for efficient and effective quickstarts.

At Greptime, we wholeheartedly embrace the culture of open source, recognizing it as a journey of steady growth. In 2023, we were thrilled to welcome 50 new individual contributors, each bringing their unique perspectives and contributions to our community.

Two of our community contributors, etolbakov from the UK and NiwakaDev from Japan have been deservedly promoted to Committers this year. They have been among the most active and reliable individual contributors in our community.

Looking ahead to 2024, we're excited to continue our collaborative journey, further developing GreptimeDB together.
